Meet Maria Reina

About her:

Maria Reina, hailing from the serene town of Kalibo, Aklan, is a determined and bright first-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Aklan State University Banga Campus. Born to Marlow and Maria Regina, Maria Reina or Maxine to her loved ones, grew up in a loving and very supportive family that made her driven to succeed and make a meaningful impact on her community.

Maxine was chosen as one of the first SPARKLE SCHOLARS, a distinction earned through her outstanding academic achievements and unwavering determination throughout her senior high years. Beyond her academic prowess, she exhibits an impressive work ethic, having embarked on entrepreneurship with her online clothes shop, a venture she passionately pursued at the height of the pandemic to contribute to her family's bulging financial needs.

Maxine is a also stellar athlete, particularly excelling as a competitive swimmer competing in national stage, marked by numerous medals and accolades. Amidst the challenges facing her family, with two other siblings in school and her parents trying their best to make ends meet, Maxine stands out for her remarkable resilience and unwavering dependability.

Dreams and Aspirations:

As a first-year college student, Maxine dreams of excelling in her academic pursuits and achieving a remarkable standing in her Bachelor's Degree. Her aspiration goes beyond personal success; she envisions becoming a successful registered nurse, extending her compassionate service to those in need, particularly in her community. With an entrepreneurial spirit, she plans to enroll in a prestigious review center after graduation, simultaneously returning to entrepreneurship to fund her review expenses and secure her future.

Inspiration:

Maxine draws inspiration from her close-knit family, especially witnessing the unwavering dedication of her parents to provide education for their children. She is fueled by the desire to reciprocate their sacrifices by abundantly providing for them in the future.

Being That Sparkle:

Confident in her interpersonal skills, Maxine believes she can be "That Sparkle" for others and contribute to various causes where her assistance is needed. She is eager to use her capabilities to positively impact individuals and communities in need.

Paying It Forward:

Looking ahead, Maxine is determined to ignite change and pay it forward as a SPARKLE. She envisions influencing positive transformations in others' lives, fostering changes in outlook, emotional well-being, and interpersonal skills.

Message to Fellow Scholars and Youth: To her soon-to-be fellow "Be That Sparkle" scholars and all youths, Maxine shares the wisdom of Malcolm X: "Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today." She encourages continuous learning and improvement, believing that education is a key to fostering new resources and creating a better future for generations to come. Meet Reuter Anthony

About him:

Reuter Anthony, is a bright and lovable young man. He is a proud Grade 7 student at St. Philomena School, Marilao, Bulacan - an inclusive school for special needs children and “regular ed” students alike, where he developed and progressed significantly. Reuter loves tinkering with gadgets and knows most of the company brands by heart. He is sweet and smart, and his smile can light up a room.

Reuter is a recipient of the "Be That Sparkle" scholarship in collaboration with Charms and Wins. He is the eldest of hardworking parents, Antonio Basil and Iris Cristina. Reuter and his nurturing family hails from Lias, Marilao, where his parents dream of guiding him towards success and helping him achieve his best.

Dreams and Aspirations:

Reuter's parents envision him finishing his schooling while surrounding himself with respect, self-worth, and determination. Inspired by his mom and dad, he aspires to be the best he can be, fostering a sense of contribution within his family and community.

Inspiration:

Reuter's parents draw strength from their son, highlighting his ability to inspire them. In turn, he and sister find inspiration in their own parents, acknowledging the sacrifices made to support their dreams.

Being That Sparkle:

Capable of helping out with assigned tasks matching his abilities, Reuter aims to learn valuable life skills and responsibilities, contributing to both his family and community.
